Ducati MotoGp 2021: Bagnaia and Miller, a young team thinks big. Dall’Igna: “We want the title” – Corriere.it

NIt won’t be an easy season, the pandemic remains the first adversary. The calendar could change, but if passion is the fuel of every challenge (copyright of the CEO Claudio Domenicali) Ducati starts with a full tank. “The 1,500 people who work for us are our first fans,” he remarked Davide Tardozzi, team manager.

The new team

The two-wheeled Rossa rekindles the fans with a completely renewed team: it starts on March 28 in Qatar. Via Dovizioso and Petrucci, after a painful divorce, inside Jack Miller and Pecco Bagnaia. Make way for the youngsters, the Australian (26) has been with the Pramac satellite team for three seasons, the Piedmontese (24), with one less than the Australian, comes from the same team. The Ducati of the future focuses on new recruits, also in the Pramac team: Jorge Martin has been promoted from Moto2 and together with the French Johann Zarco will take the place vacated by the Miller-Bagnaia couple. The new Moto2 world champion joins the Esponsorama team Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini. New names, but the same ambitions.

The objectives

“We want to win the drivers’ title,” he reiterated Gigi Dall’Igna head of the racing department. The victory of the constructors’ championship in 2020 was a small consolation in the year that could sanction that success cherished for three seasons with Dovizioso (who is having fun with motocross bikes in Sardinia these days). And to do this, Ducati “will continue to innovate” assures the Venetian engineer “as far as possible” due to the technical regulation frozen by the economic crisis. Too much pressure for the newly promoted? «Normal when you get to the top – assures Bagnaia – but in the meantime I have to win the first MotoGP race». Then anything can happen.
