The presidency of the G7 returns to Europe: Giorgia Meloni’s task will be to refocus the confrontation between the seven most developed countries on burning issues that Japan has faced with a more wait-and-see attitude. The challenge of the conflict in Ukraine, the relationship with Africa and migration, the conflict between Israel and Gaza will become more on the agenda and that will become an emergency, namely the regulation of the development of artificial intelligence.
The first date will be the foreign ministers’ meeting, which will take place in Capri from April 17th to 19th. It will then be the turn of the Economy Ministers from May 23rd to 26th in Puglia, in the Itria Valley, in Borgo Egnazia, the place also chosen by the Prime Minister for the Summit of Heads of State and Government from June 13th to 15th.
The Prime Minister has already announced that the Italian contribution to the summit agenda will be the Africa theme, in continuation of her speech to the United Nations in September 2023 and the “Mattei Plan”.
